Bellas Artes
Located in Donostia - San Sebastián
The Bellas Artes theatre, originally named the "Palacio Bellas Artes" is a work of the architect Ramón Cortázar. It was inaugurated on the 12th of September 1914 and is characterised by its trapezoid shape.
The building’s smaller side houses the stage area, beneath a cupola. Several reforms from the decade of the eighties have lamentably spoiled the attractive visual effect of this feature. Until the seventies the theatre facade was decorated with a characteristic glass and metal marquee.
After being used for a few years as a cinema it was last used as a rehearsal salon for the Euskadi Symphonic Orchestra, and has since them remained inactive.
